Do you need help with Housing Problems?
NHLA helps with several different kinds of housing cases, including the following:
Eviction from public housing
Eviction involving Section 8 vouchers
Termination of Section 8 vouchers
Foreclosure
Property tax deeding
Housing discrimination
Termination of utilities
NHLA attorneys and paralegals are available before eviction hearings at the Manchester and Nashua District Division courthouses every week. If you are a tenant going to an eviction hearing in Manchester or Nashua District Division, look for the NHLA attorneys or paralegals before your eviction hearing.

Do you need help with Public Benefits?
NHLA helps people who have been wrongly denied different kinds of public benefits, including:
SSDI (Social Security disability) and SSI (Supplemental Security Income)
Medicaid
Aid to the Permanently and Totally Disabled (ATPD)
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, also known as Food Stamps)
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF, also called FANF)
Local welfare
Electric and fuel assistance programs
Unemployment, including appealing unemployment overpayments

Do you need help with Domestic Violence issues?
NHLA helps victims and survivors of
domestic violence
sexual assault
stalking
human trafficking
when they want an order of protection (restraining order) or need help with divorce, child custody, parenting rights and responsibilities, and/or child support.
NHLA attorneys and paralegals are available at the Domestic Violence session at the Manchester Family Division courthouse on Thursdays. If you are a victim or survivor going to a final protective order/restraining order hearing in Manchester Family Division, look for the NHLA attorneys or paralegals before your hearing.

Do you need help with Education legal issues?
NHLA helps homeless youth and youth who are involved in the juvenile legal system or child protection systems, or who are at risk of becoming involved, when they need an attorney to:
access needed educational services and accommodations, such as IEPs or 504 plans,
stay enrolled in their school district during periods of homelessness, including access to transportation,
prevent or appeal long term suspension or expulsion, and
access educational and other community-based services to prevent restrictive residential placements.

Do you need help with Aging-related legal issues?
NHLA helps older adults (age 60 and over) in all of our project areas – including help with eviction, property tax issues, public benefits such as disability and local welfare – as well as issues related specifically to aging, such as
the rights of residents in nursing homes and assisted living facilities,
debt collection harassment, and
financial exploitation

Do you need help with Immigration legal issues?
NHLA helps lawful permanent U.S. residents and other noncitizens who are detained at the Strafford County Jail and facing removal from the United States. NHLA also helps other noncitizens in New Hampshire, including
people seeking asylum,
survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, or other crimes,
young people seeking special immigrant juvenile status, and
people seeking temporary protected status, humanitarian parole, or other immigration status or eligibility to remain in the U.S.
