New Hampshire Legal Assistance Receives $180,000 Grant from Tufts Health Plan FoundationPosted Jan 22, 2019
CONCORD, NH – January 22, 2019 – New Hampshire Legal Assistance was awarded a three-year grant for $180,000 from Tufts Health Plan Foundation.
“We are investing in initiatives that promote coalitions and bring together government, nonprofit organizations, and older people to create communities that are great places to grow up and grow old,” said Nora Moreno Cargie, president of Tufts Health Plan Foundation and vice president for corporate citizenship at Tufts Health Plan. “Critical to any success is supporting older people as they lead and make their voices heard.”
In addition to organizing older adults across the Granite State, New Hampshire Legal Assistance will lead the policy and advocacy work for the New Hampshire Alliance for Healthy Aging, the statewide coordinating body promoting healthy aging. The Foundation’s support for this effort ensures capacity for effective strategic advocacy on issues important to older people in New Hampshire.
“This funding will allow NHLA to continue expanding our advocacy on behalf of older adults, in particular our work strengthening workforce developments, and protections against financial exploitation. It’s also critical support for our advocacy to include the voices of seniors in conversations about healthy aging in New Hampshire, one of the fastest-aging states in the country,” said NHLA Policy Director Dawn McKinney.
Established in 2008, Tufts Health Plan Foundation supports the health and wellness of the diverse communities we serve. The Foundation has given more than $32 million to Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island nonprofits that promote healthy living with an emphasis on older adults. The Foundation began funding in New Hampshire in 2016. The Tufts Health Plan Foundation funds programs that move communities toward achieving age-friendly policies and practices that are relevant, focus on older adults and include them in community solutions.
