COMMODITY
SUPPLEMENT FOOD PROGRAM, Statewide: A nutrition program for
low-income people 60 years and older. Provides healthy food and
nutritional information. To see if you qualify and for locations,

NH
HELPLINE, Statewide: Links service providers and consumers with
comprehensive, current information about health and human service
resources in New Hampshire. More than 6,000 self-help resources can
be accessed 24 hours a day by calling 1-800-852-3388. Offers
information on social services, referral to appropriate agencies for
problem solving, suicide crisis, child or adult abuse, domestic
violence, alcohol and drug abuse. Assistance for basic needs such as
food, housing, fuel, clothing and financial support.
Sight Services for
Independent Living
(SSIL) is a comprehensive
program for people, aged 55 and older with a visual impairment, who
live at home. SSIL provides information, adaptive aids, training and
support at no cost through a service delivery team of professionals
and volunteer peer counselors. Services include the areas of low
vision, personal and household management, independent travel,
benefits planning, communication and community integration.
SSIL sponsors peer support group
meetings at 20 locations throughout the state which provide an
outlet for the visually impaired person to find support and
understanding from persons with similar conditions who live in their
geographic areas.
To be eligible for SSIL, a New
Hampshire resident must be 55 or older and have a significant visual

CARDIOVASCULAR
EXERCISE, Manchester: Catholic Medical Center offers exercise
classes and aerobic equipment classes designed for cardiovascular
health and fitness. 627-3808.
SENIORS
EXERCISE PROGRAMS, Lebanon: Savvy Seniors programs, sponsored by
Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital, include strength training and
exercise classes, as well as tours and other outings. Contact Carol

ALZHEIMERS
REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM, Concord: New Hampshire Chapter has
started a new Chapter Respite Reimbursement Program to give relief
to family caregivers. 226-5868
ALZHEIMER'S
RESPITE CARE, Statewide: Easter Seals has developed Caring
Companions, an in-home respite-care program. Available from two
hours to entire day. Easter Seals also runs an Alzheimer's Day
Program. 621-3565.
ALZHEIMER'S
SERIES, Bedford: The Arbors of Bedford sponsors free seminars on
Alzheimer's, its care, and related topics the third Monday of every
month. RSVP to Ruth Mills at 647-9300 by the first Monday of every
month. Seating is limited.
SENIOR
BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS: Rockingham County The Rockingham VNA
and Hospice sponsors free blood pressure screenings. No
