NHLA awarded $275,000 HUD grant to support fair housing work
On January 21, 2010, HUD announced that NHLA was a recipient of a $275,000 grant through HUD’s Fair Housing Initiatives Program. The funding will enable NHLA to continue its efforts to enforce state and federal fair housing laws and combat housing discrimination in New Hampshire. Through its Housing Justice Project, NHLA advocates investigate allegations of housing discrimination and file complaints with HUD, the NH Commission for Human Rights and in state and federal courts. NHLA also conducts an extensive education and outreach campaign directed to victims of discrimination, housing consumers, human services agencies and housing providers. NHLA also operates the state's only testing program to investigate discrimination in rental and manufactured housing.
