NHLA Starts New Youth Law Project

NHLA has embarked on a new project focusing on at-risk youth in Nashua and Derry. The NHLA Youth Law Project will provide civil legal services for delinquent and at-risk youth to ensure that they receive the educational, mental health and other services they need to prevent and avoid delinquent behavior and involvement with the juvenile justice system. Youth Law Project staff will collaborate with public defenders, courts, law enforcement, psychiatric consultants, and key organizations serving children and youth to receive referrals and determine appropriate services to obtain for clients. The project was made possible by several fellowships provided by Equal Justice America, Harvard Law School and the NH Bar Foundation. In addition, the Endowment for Health has awarded NHLA a technical assistance grant to support a pilot project evaluation and psychiatric consultant.
